THE STARTING OF A BRAND NEW DAY: Today is the real start of the third millennium and the 21st century. When I was a kid, and the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey came out, that year seemed so distant, so futuristic. Today, the future is now. Wow.

The new year is a time of hopes and resolutions and all that. I don't normally partake except that I hope I remain healthy; I hope to have the opportunity to travel again; I especially hope to meet in person some of the people who have become my friends through this wonderful invention called the Internet. And then there is Johnny Mathis. He is truly a mystery; still, I wish for him continued good health, and I hope that one day he gets what he deserves, at least as far as true appreciation is concerned. I wish for those of us who still enjoy him continued good music from him!

MATHIS IN CONCERT: Tickets go on sale online January 8 for the Valentine's Day show at Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, MI (somewhere near Flint). As mentioned in an earlier Mathis Chronicles, forget about the Wilmington, Delaware party...not for us common folk.

San Diego's a nice WARM place to be in February...while there, take in one of the Johnny Mathis concerts on Fri. Feb. 2 and Sat. Feb. 3rd. Prices are very reasonable.

Housed in the Playhouse Square Center in Cleveland Ohio's performing arts district is the Palace Theatre. Johnny Mathis will perform there on February 16. Call the box office at 216-241-6000 to inquire for tickets.
