MATHIS IN CONCERT: Tickets are on sale online for the Valentine's Day show at Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, MI (somewhere near Flint). Considering that I once paid $75 for a marginal seat behind and above the stage at one of the Mathis shows I went to half a decade ago, I think that $49 and less is a good buy. On the other hand, I've never been to a casino concert. I'm sure you lack the intimacy of a concert hall, so maybe $49 is too much for that environment, who knows!
San Diego's a nice WARM place to be in February...while there, take in one of the Johnny Mathis concerts on Fri. Feb. 2nd and Sat. Feb. 3rd Prices are very reasonable.
I just had an interesting thought, though. If you DO attend the show out there in SanDi, you might want to bring candles and/or flashlights, and be prepared for a Johnny Mathis Unplugged performance!
Housed in the Playhouse Square Center in Cleveland Ohio's performing arts district is the Palace Theatre. Johnny Mathis will perform there on February 16. Call the box office at 216-241-6000 to inquire for tickets, or use this link to tickets.com to buy online!
NEW DATE FOR 2001: Now, here's a date that should make my buddy Jon-Dan jump for joy...it's scheduled for Saturday, August 4, and Sunday, August 5th at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, Massachusetts. That makes TWO dates for Massachusetts this year, both in August! Aren't you New Englanders lucky this year?!
Also, a THIRD SHOW has been added to the Atlantic City date. Along with Friday and Saturday, there's now a date for Sunday, April 29th.
I see future dates in: Westbury New York; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Antioch, Tennessee; Palm Desert, California; Buffalo, New York; Reno, Nevada; and Beverly, Massachussetts. Sorry, no Canadian or other foreign dates that I can see.
From what I understand from a buddy in Brazil, Mathis won't or can't go abroad unless there's a promoter willing to set it up for him to do so. I swear, the more I learn about the touring recording artists, the less I understand! So, if anybody out there's a promoter, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?? People all over the world are more than willing to pay through the nose to see this man! Send him to Japan! They love golf and love to spend money; he loves golf AND he's used to earthquakes. It'd be the perfect match! Why not give his management a buzz and sign him up! (Although, I'd frankly like to see another record(ing) from him as well!)
