HAPPY NEW YEAR (AGAIN): It's the Chinese New Year 4697, the year of the Golden Dragon. Boy, if that doesn't make one feel old. Incidentally, according to the Chinese horoscope, I am a Metal Rat, and Johnny Mathis is a Wooden Pig! I understand that to celebrate, a typical Chinese New Year meal consists of a whole chicken. I mean, a WHOLE chicken, head, feet, tail, and all! To each their own, certainly; as for me, I think I'll pass on that, and enjoy my KFC instead.
The Mathis Chronicles turns three next Wednesday on Valentine's Day. I'll hopefully be able to review the year and discuss the future of this homepage at that time. Thanks to all for continued support.
MATHIS IN CONCERT: This week is free.
Next week: The Valentine's Day show at Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, MI (somewhere near Flint). Priced very reasonably.
Two days later, Johnny Mathis will perform in Cleveland at the Palace Theatre. Call the box office at 216-241-6000 to inquire for tickets, or use this link to tickets.com to buy online!
The Westbury Music Fair shows are a month away now. Now would be a good time to book your flight and hotel if you intend to fly to Long Island for the show. This is a very small venue, 3000 seats, so I wouldn't be surprised if it were sold out now. However, it's best to call and see, or visit the website for more information.
Looks like they have Mathis singing at a basketball arena again over in Fort Wayne, Indiana! [Boy, does THAT bring back memories!] Tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster for that show, prices are what I'd call "moderate to high", considering it's being held in a sports arena! I guess the $75 is for the box seats, and the $33 ones are the bleachers. Click here for seating chart/more info.
Fort Lauderdale could be called a suburb of Miami, if it weren't so big in its own right! Tickets have been on sale for the shows there in April since December, and the prices are reasonable. Click here for more information.
Now, this I do not understand, but here it is. Tickets have been on sale since Dec. 23 for the Friday, April 27 show at Caesar's Atlantic City. The show starts at, get this, 10:00 PM (And I thought I had a hard time in San Francisco...I really WOULD fall asleep at that one!), yet seating starts 90 MINUTES EARLER. Now, what in the world are you supposed to do for an hour and a half before the show? Plus, I can't see Mathis going until midnight, so you probably get an hour of his time at best, and you pay $60 for this. Truly, this is over my head, but here it is, if you want the information. By the way, the Saturday night show starts at 9 PM.
I understand there'll be quite a few fan-clubbers at the shows at the Silver Legacy Casino in Reno, Nevada. Tickets are on sale, prices are $50, $44, and $30; call (800) 687-8733 for details or use the online form.
I see future dates in: Antioch, Tennessee (just outside Nashville); Cerritos (a 45-year old suburb of Los Angeles) and Palm Desert (it IS in the desert), California; Buffalo, New York; and Hyannis (Kennedy country) and Beverly (north of Salem), Massachussetts. Sorry, no Canadian or other foreign dates that I can see.
