There aren't that many words to say that haven't already been said. Sadly, it seems violence will once again beget violence. Yet, I see a ray of hope through the clouds. For in the aftermath of almost unspeakable devastation to our country's financial core and military headquarters, where it is said that in either case people don't even know their neighbors much less speak to them, New Yorkers and the people of DC have discovered, in their common grief and disorientation, a type of fellowship and brotherhood that until now was said only to be found, well, here in the Heartland. I knew even back in 1995 this was surely not true. After all, it's like a dear friend of mine likes to say: "we are all connected."

When one hurts, we all hurt. It's so wonderful to see how much the common people of the world empathize with our pain. Everyone wants help our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters in need. God Bless the World.

If the lessons of tolerance were easily learned, there wouldn't be a hole in NYC's skyline or four sides to a Pentagon today. Unfortunately, some Americans are mistakenly taking the blame for it. Michele Orgell of All One Heart, Morris Dees and the SPLC with their Tolerance.org, and others like them worked very hard this past week, as they do all year round, trying to spread the message of tolerance and what being an American is really all about. I pray the message eventually gets through so that things like this don't happen again. Ever.

Someone asked me if I knew whether Johnny Mathis went to that benefit tournament which would have been this past weekend in Great Britain. I don't know, and as usual the official site is lax to say one way or another. But I'll give my two cents on the matter. If he's got good sense, he'll have stayed home. There are people here in his own country who need as much help if not more. I personally can't see him flying off to play golf while the people here are hurting. But, of course, he can do what he wants.
