VOL. 1 NO. 17 - NOVEMBER 24, 2002
CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE: For a guy who claims that he's famous enough, Johnny Mathis is working to keep his face and his music on television more this year than he usually does! Watch for Mathis and his new Christmas music on Oprah on Monday, Nov. 25th, and whenever reruns are available. We get Oprah twice a day here, the night show is a replay of the show from a couple days before.
Also, the Columbia site has Johnny Mathis performing "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" and "a 2nd song tba" for the Christmas in Aspen show to air December 8 on ABC This show will feature Lee Ann Womack, Kenny G, Barry Manilow, and of course Mr. Mathis.
Fans and followers of Barbra Streisand will get to hear Mathis once again on her Duets album. I hope hers will be better put together than his was. I don't know why in the world his precious songwriting buddies can't get up off some money and write some songs especially for him to sing, and not worry about whether or not it will sell or not. Believe it or not, there are millionaire writers worried about that. I would think they'd be happy to have Mathis even look at a song. I'd like to see a new duet album for Mathis with only guys as his singing partner. Put him together with young Josh Groban and let him learn from a real master. Maybe that hot new counter-tenor David Daniels and he can do some arias, I don't know. I know that nothing I wish for in that regard will EVER come to pass, but that's no reason to not dream about a perfect world.
TOUR BUS: The bus stops next in San Diego, California. Also, I see he's coming back to the Boston area: Beverly, Massachusetts in August of next year. Visit See Mathis Live! for details.
