VOL. 2 NO. 1 - JANUARY 20, 2003
LEGACY STRIKES AGAIN: There is new/old Johnny Mathis material in the stores right now! It's called Love Story; a friend of mine saw it at Tower Records over the weekend. It's another compilation, but if you want songs from some albums which have yet to be released on CD, here's an opportunity to own your twenty-first copy of the Twelfth of Never along with a couple of previously unreleased recordings.
I noticed some songs from Killing Me Softly With Her Song such as: You Are The Sunshine of My Life, and And I Love You So. I also noticed a song from Theme from Romeo and Juliet: A Man and A Woman, and a song from Evergreen: All The Things You Are. I think it goes without saying that I wish they'd release the whole damn thing instead of these dumb-ass compilations, but I've been singing that song for many years now. My friend thinks Love Is A Many Splendored Thing has appeared before, in spite of what they say. I don't have it, myself. Anyway, here's a link, I'm sure other stores sell it as well. It's been out since January 14.
EARTHLY PEACE: Well, last Saturday was kind of a milestone for me. I participated in my very first anti-war rally in Oklahoma City. It wasn't the raucous, rowdy kind, but the silent, reverent kind. I and about 150 others marched silently down Robinson Avenue, stopping in front of our National Bombing Memorial, and offered a prayer for peace. We here in the City know what bombs can do, and I personally wouldn't wish that kind of horror on anybody else. I'm happy I participated, happier to see that other people in other cities and even other countries are doing the same in their own way. On the eve of the holiday which honors a man who stood for nonviolence and peace, here's hoping all our efforts do some good.
