PRESENTS
 the Grapevine...News & Views
Welcome to the Grapevine News. This section of the Mathis Chronicles contains my views about anything I find or am sent about Johnny Mathis on the Internet and elsewhere, that had been overlooked by the "official" sites. Occasionally, I report on things not directly related to Mathis but have a connection, may even make up a question to ask myself and try to answer. Readers are welcome to share their experiences here also. So enjoy and thanks for coming.

VOL. 2 NO. 2 - JANUARY 29, 2003

HOW DO YOU MEASURE A LIFE? In the truths that she learned, or in the times that he cried, in bridges he burned, or the way that she died?

Just remember the love. Nell Carter loved. She loved singing, she loved the theater, she loved Johnny Mathis, she loved Joey Lawrence, she loved her children. Mathis and theatergoers everywhere, especially Broadway folk, loved her, too.

HOW CAN YOU MEND A BROKEN HEART? For Barry and Robin Gibb, this will take time. Their brother Maurice (pronounced Morris) will be will them always in spirit. The co-author of Run to Me from Song Sung Blue album and How Deep is Your Love from the You Light Up My Life album, Maurice and his brothers helped reinvent the careers of the venerable Dionne Warwick and Barbra Streisand, and it could well be comforting to think of Maurice and long lost brother Andrew as a kind of a new Brothers Gibb group serenading the stars in rock and roll heaven.

God Bless You and Please Keep Well, Mr. Mathis.
