VOL. 2 NO. 4 - FEBRUARY 18, 2003
IT'S GRAMMY TIME: This coming Sunday we get to see Johnny Mathis get his lifetime achievement award...maybe. I haven't taped a Grammy since the last time Mathis was on the show, in 1991, when he presented Natalie Cole with her Grammy for "Unforgettable". Wouldn't it be wonderful to have her turn the tables on him? Oh, well, I'm not writing this script...we'll just have to see what happens!
CHANCES ARE: Speaking of 1991 (or thereabouts), I see to my surprise that the live concert Chances Are from twelve (!) years ago, with Grammy nominee Patti Austin as special guest, is out on DVD! Has the same stuff the video has, but has extras like a discography and a photo gallery. That's the good news. The bad news is, it's not for sale in this country! It apparently is a wonderful gift for his Brazilian fans, because an exhaustive search finds no sellers in North America! However, they are starting to appear rather readily on eBay, so buyer beware. However, as soon as I find an accessible seller, I'll provide the link either here in the Grapevine, or in my Buy Mathis Music section.
TOUR BUS: The bus stops next in Memphis, Tennessee. Visit See Mathis Live! for details.
